Mine Spec Vehicle Fit-Out
Heavy Vehicle Engineering / Mining vehicle fit out
Compliance fit-out, auto electrical and rated couplings for light vehicles and fleets
A mine-spec vehicle fit-out is a compliance task with an engineering job underneath it. To reach a site, a vehicle has to meet a defined specification across structure, electrical and equipment, and to keep a fleet on site, that specification has to be met identically on every unit. REA fits out light vehicles and fleets to mine-site and customer specifications at our Forrestdale, WA facility, engineering the structural, electrical and coupling work as one build so a vehicle leaves compliant, documented and ready to work.
The advantage is that the fabrication, ROPS/FOPS, auto electrical and coupling work are all carried out in-house. A fit-out is scoped and completed as a single controlled process rather than split across a workshop, an auto electrician and a structures supplier, which is what keeps the specification consistent and the certification clean.
Compliance fit-out
A mine-spec fit-out brings a vehicle up to the structural and safety specification a site requires.
- mine-site compliance fit-out to the site or customer specification
- ROPS/FOPS integration, engineered and certified to suit the vehicle
- mounting and integration of other vehicle-mounted equipment, with the supporting fabrication
- Toolboxes & storage
Auto electrical
REA designs and installs the electrical work as part of the build rather than bolting it on afterwards, so circuits, isolation and equipment are engineered in alongside the structural work.
- mine-spec electrical setup and wiring
- Beacons, warning lights & isolators
- Wiring and integration for vehicle-mounted equipment
- electrical work tied into the fabrication, hydraulics and ROPS/FOPS on the same build
Towbars and couplings
On a heavy or fleet vehicle, a coupling is a rated structural connection, not an accessory, and it has to match both the load being towed and the structure carrying it. REA designs, fabricates and fits tow hitches and couplings as part of the fit-out or build, engineered to the tow rating and the application.
- Heavy-duty tow hitches and towbars for trucks and heavy vehicles
- couplings matched to the application and tow rating
- tow-hitch and bracket arrangements fabricated or modified with the supporting chassis and mounting work
Documented and certified for the whole fleet
Engineered. documented and certified for the whole fleet
Every fit-out is handed over with a Manufacturing Data Record documenting the work carried out. ROPS work is supplied with VSB 6 certification, and where a project requires formal, independent sign-off, REA engages an external engineer or certifier as part of the job.
Heavy vehicle fit out FAQ
Who does ROPS Engineering Australia provide vehicle fit out for?
Dealerships, mining companies, fleet managers and operators, and body builders. REA is well suited to suitable one-off projects, and particularly to longer-term fleet and customer arrangements where a consistent, repeatable specification is the point.
Can REA fit out a vehicle to our mine-site or fleet specification?
Yes. Where you hold a specification, REA builds to it and replicates it identically across every vehicle in the fleet.
Can REA install mine-spec electrical equipment?
Yes, including mine-spec wiring, beacons, warning lights and isolators, designed and installed in-house as part of the fit-out.
Can ROPS/FOPS be incorporated into the same project?
Yes. ROPS/FOPS is a core REA capability and is engineered into the fit-out rather than handled separately.
Can REA fit a towbar or coupling rated to our application?
Yes. Tow hitches and couplings are designed, fabricated and fitted to suit the tow rating and the vehicle, with the supporting structure engineered to carry the load.
Can REA handle fabrication, electrical, hydraulics and couplings as one project?
Yes. All of it is in-house, so a fit-out is completed as a single job rather than stalling on an outside contractor.
What documentation is supplied?
A Manufacturing Data Record with every fit-out, VSB 6 certification on ROPS work, and independent certification where a job requires it.
